Sarah Hilary's first mystery featuring Marnie Rome is compelling and thought-provoking. Not only is Rome a capable and admirable detective, but her investigations of a murder at a battered women's shelter raise many questions about society's preconceived notions.

I'll be ready to snap up a sequel to SOMEONE ELSE'S SKIN, a book that I found as satisfying as some of the best UK thrillers of the Golden Eighties when people like Ruth Rendell and P.D. James reigned.
